Having had two of the threads I started pulled, I am starting a new one in case I cause the “Censored thread - an interesting dilemma” to be pulled also.

I took out my insurance on the basis of very positive comments I read on the YBW forums. I feel strongly that having not received the service that I was expecting, I owed it to the forum to feedback my experience.

I have received no communication from ybw staff as to why my threads were pulled and I find it odd that we now have the situation where there is a statement from the company involved but no balancing view.

The factual errors complained of were by other posters and not from me as far as I can see. I have tried to be objective in my opinion at all times.

I would like to reference the web site I have set up so that ybw users can see my point of view as they cannot read it here. Is it against the forum rules to put a link to it here? Surely an offsite link cannot hold ybw liable for anything except possibly reduced advertising revenue?

I have done this for the benefit of forum users, it was them who pointed me at this company in the first place. If you don't want to read my posts then you don't have to.

Whilst you might not have had an immediate result from your posting you can be satisfied with the fact that your warning, which I understand was the reason for the posting, has been well headed by people like myself who will bear it in mind when next seeking Insurance.

It should not stop you updating us with progress either, as that will be factual and not emotive, which will keep warning alive.

It could also be the case (hopefully) that you are reporting full satisfaction as a result of immediate and satisfactory responses by others, and, as this would be complimentary comment, is not likley to be pulled either and could sway those like me who would never get a quote to get one.

Let\'s review the score

Let's just review the score on this one..

- Have forum participants been able to express their views on this matter? Yes, quite freely and extensively for several days before the thread was pulled. They've had their audience.

- Has Pantaenius been hurt? Indirectly, definitely yes. The thread, while it existed, was read by many actual and potential clients of Pantaenius. P's presumed request or threats to have the thread pulled and their statement is ample evidence.

- Will this affect Pantaenius' way of doing business in the future? Uncertain, but will probably have some effect on certain matters over time.

- Will the originators (chrisrixon et al) have their problems and complaints resolved satisfactorily as a result? Wait and see - the impact on their relationship with P. could actually get worse, or could lead to an early solution that is to their satisfaction.

- How has YBW and Kim faired in all this? I think they have acted responsibly, with good timing, given the complexity of issues and possible consequences from their viewpoint.

The balance? P. have undoubtedly been damaged a little, it's up to them to demostrate improvements to their clients and public over the future. The injured clients may feel better at venting their frustration, but may find themselves no further forward with P. YBW has handled a sticky situation pretty well.

Anyway, what do you expect from a sponsored forum when things get difficult? IMHO the many advantages of a sponsored forum far outweigh the rare disadvantages.

Chris - forum users have benefited from participation in and information gleaned from your post. I don't think there's much more mileage in this - and your response to Viking feels like your are getting a little tense. No point in falling out about it - post one about getting bloody antifoul off or offer to come and do mine!!

On the occasion he pulled one of my threads Kim contacted me and explained the reasons.

It was in fact an innocent remark, into which more could be read than was intended.

I would definitely support your right and duty to bring the matter to the forum.

Do you want to tell him now or later that you really are the skipper of the Oriana?

Skipper of the Oriana or not, I'm not sure how he'd feel when all my relatives descended on us from diverse parts of Scotland, Wales and England. Quite a rowdy lot. Not to mention numerous.
