Not that any responsible boat owner would consider it.... but customs and excise have confiscated 30 something diesel cars being run on tax free diesel in south wales.

According to the article in the South Wales Echo they also give you a bill for the duty they estimate you evaded before being captured.

All in all it could really ruin your day.Dont be tempted even to use one gallon as the dye lingers in your tank for years.Could be something to check if buying a second hand diesel car.

A very bad day I would say!

Not only is diesel marked with a dye so you can see its untaxed and not for road use, it is also marked with a chemical marker and as you point out it will be detectable that you have had red diesel in your tank even diluted 10:1 so you offer a sound warning do not be tempted.
If you have inadvertantly done this, then empty the tank completely and refill with legal RV gas oil.
Stay legal you know it makes sense.
Have a nice day!
