I have an old fender which has a small puncture. The hole is down at the very end on the "cringle" thingy (if that is the right word). When I hold it in the sink full of water I can see the bubbles of air coming out. I have been able to seal most of it by using the hot tip of a soldering iorn to melt the puncture together but there is a tiny hole which I can not seal no matter how hard I try. Any suggestions?

Thanks

David

What about trying that aerosol puncture repair stuff that ruins car tyres. Might just fill the hole from the inside, might not, how valuable is the fender?

well not really, but I think that spray stuff is about £8 a tin maybe less, but as my fenders came in at £11 I would not bother, it is all about relativity init.

For £3 in my case I would replace the fender.

That is all I meant, nothing else implied, I too am from the school of repair but only when it is economical to do so.

fender is only as strong as the weakest part..you may need it strong one day and it will let you down, prob cost you more than a new one.there have been many times when ive needed a fender to drop below the waterline so i half filled the old ones with water and used them for semi submurge..

I agree with the replace it brigade. I've seen a few boats damaged because of inadequate fendering when a big wake comes through, or it could pop when you get it w little bit wrong coming alongside. A new fender is cheaper than repairing a big gouge in your gelcoat.
