Project OBD!!!!!!! ( Norman 32 refurb )

Thta engine is spot on, had a great cruise for an hour to the marina for the lift out.

Its home now

Very lucky as the crane wa at full extension

need to fence arounf it one i have cleared to piund/work area behind the large gates.

nutter!
so all the lengthening is going to be towards the street right? I guess the bow is touching the fence of the neighbours, or you negotiated "stealing" a few feet off them for a year or so? :p
it's going to be a bit tight lifting it out once lengthened

anyway, looking forward to the rebuilt!
wonder what the neighbours think. Next project I recon you'll either have to knock down bits of the house, or you have to move to a larger property :p

cheers

Hi V

I am using as mucb space as i can, the bow rial is online with the back fence and when extended it will be a foot from the front border lien of the house :) 44 foot i will get., maybe 45 yet. I asked the chap who delivered it if he still thinks he can get it out once extended and weight 4-5 ton, Yep with an extendable low loadet

Was funny, when the driver arrived with it he said he took the wrong tun into a dead end. street befor emine. There was a lad walking donw same street and saw him stuck and offered to help him reverse out.the driver said he asked him `, Are you going to Waynes house with that ?`

I think folk are used to me know lol

( sorry for bad typo, had an eye haemerrage yesterday and still a bit bad )

That is some video!!
While W is busy putting an oversized boat in his driveway, you can see on the edge of the screen Mrs W trying to placate all her neighbors ??

Hi y`all.

Thought i should not sit around and crack on a bit. Only few bits, ripped out the remainder of whats left, very little left, took me about half an hour so i decided to get the engine ready to be lifted out. Again another half hour job once i found my sockets i needed, not the tidiest of workers.

Sooooo

I made a video for Youtube and started a channel. So those who use youtube take a look

Captain Faffer

So as of today, ripped out and faffed with the outdrive. well well well, this was the problem of a little wobble i bet lol. I have to thank my mate for helping me out, dont like to use a grinder with one eye and this n that.

It needs a new prop as its twisted and a few mm out of true. hope there isn tto mich more damage.

I wish now i got the on ei found ages ago for spares, could of had it for £50 aswell..

First rid of the rudder

And lets do the twist, like i did last summer Ooooo ( though i dont think it was me that did this )

20200115-154128.jpg

For those that dont do Youbtube, i have cleaned out the pound/work area, this is for when i have fenced off the drive for the boat extension i have much more room and easier access to the extension area.

So now i have two workshops and a good size work area. Lucky boy :)

Captain Faffer ( as on Youtube ;) )

Great video W! (have you thought about subtitles?)
That shaft is so neatly twisted it looks factory! I can’t believe that you are really going to lengthen her, you truly are up for anything. If the parking space wasn’t so narrow I bet you would be thinking about widening her too?
Good luck Wayne, I bet she’s going to turn our beautiful ?

Hi kida.

Subtitles, cricky i am struggling to do what i am lol. Maybe in time, is it you cant understand me ? What will be in the subtitles ?

And dare i say it. And you didnt see one of my first posts on here, i mentioned to widen it to 10 foot beam :) I have the room aswell as the pillar in the garden/pound area will be knocked down aswell ina week or so that would give me loooaaaddddssaaaa room :)

That's how it looks to me too.

Now, thats what we thought as it looks good, but for on the concaved edge it got a few shiny spots showing what i thought and to see if the shaft was untrue.

you keeping the drive W?
would be good when we see the whole boat stripped out of all the crap it's got (inside out) and scrapped off flaking paint!
For a foreigner, you're not the easiest person to follow tbh, wouldn't bother with subs though, you could try your posh accent though :p

It’s because my wife is in bed. She speaks Northern ?

OMG i dont have time to do ellecution lessons lads, never mind bloody spell it ha ha lol

V

The boat will be extended down the drive to the footpath to get the 44 foot with a foot or two to spare. I hope to have it cleaned out this week a still off work sick. thing is i need to do tip runs but cant drive and T wont pull the trailer.

So he wasn’t speaking Greek then???
not quite sure, but probably not :D
there are some accents here as well that are hard, not as hard as my friend Peter (from Paisley though) each time we met, I'd spent the first few hours getting my mind in gear to follow and understand what he was on about...

V.

It’s definitely twist and bent! Probably took a piece of old rope wrapped around it while the skipper gave it full power

I've stripped a few enfields, that is well twisted and defo not factory, I'm surprised it didn't snap.
probably nicely warmed by the friction of the other crap it had around before picking the big rope that did the job :D
Bet it's in mild steel hardness territory now...

V.

Well chaps, its defo twisted by accident and bent. I checked it when i found it by holding a rule again the cavitation plate and on the prop then rotated the prop . its near 2mm out, you can see on one side of the splines a few chips in the splines when it bent

Ok cracking on a bit.

Feels good now its cleaning up well. Loads of holes to fill, a sin drilled not damage which is good but not great.

Got a good bit done in the last week.

First off i removed the GRP lining from the front cabin. Behind this i found more linings or laminations. I knew there was a sandwich construction but not as much as this, reason the cabin top is good to walk on and feels solid. i guess. I found there to be the inner lining, then a few mm above the first GRP bonded to 6mm or so of wood, maybe a Balsa wood, i dont know. Then another laminate and another 6mm Balsa before the bond to the shell.

Plan is as the first few foot is rotten and the rest is good and solid i will be cutting back and removing the rotten and damp area. The more i go back it is very hard to remove.

20200117-142017.jpg

That was that once the lining was removed. No big job as easy cut out with the grinder.
I have to do the rear cabin of of removing the lining as i wanted to clean it all out so a good mate, yes i have one :) lol. I used his pressure washer to blast the hell out of it, interior and exterior.

Ah we removed the strakes, we as in me and Charlie, he has been a good un since i am struggling., i did my best to keep what timber i could. Looks like a Mahogany, will keep it to make a new table top again maybe.

Odd as one side had SS screws and the other steel. and drilled at different
spacing.

20200123-125221.jpg

Ah next was the exterior actually. I was going to give a quick clean down, this ended up as a pressure wash the paint off job. Bloody paint chippings everywhere. Hey saves on sanding :).

This took of upto three coats off in places.

Oh and you will see the leg is removed. I did this along with the helm, what a pain in the arse that was as the cable clamps were all seized and who ever fitted them used over long bolts, like 40-75mm long for a small clamp.

Multi tool is great at cutting in

Still solid transom

20200123_144148.jpg

Inside looks good now, feels so much like ts getting some where quick now.

Besides that i removed half the windows and cleaned them up a bit.

I mite try a different approach to the finish, not sure what but i uslauuly just falp them over then polish and leave them, Suggestions ?

Now again i have lost loads of pics so i will take them aain asap and tell the story more.

Still, got You Tube vids down loading ;) if ther any good.

My god this is harder than doing the boat.
