This may be of interest to nobody, But i thought i'd post it anyway to say what a great weekend i had doing my PB level 2 training at the Watersports Centre on the Isle of Cumbrae. The centre with the facilities and Bob Smith and his team were all great. Thanks Bob..
It was quite a weekend what with the course and the social aspect on the Fri & Sat nights at the watersports centre, up till 2am both nights then early starts, so i am sitting at my desk at work, feeling that i'm still on the boats swaying up and down feeling absolutely KNACKERED!!!
The training was good, a lot of stuff that we knew, but given tips how to do it better. We were in a group of 9, and used 3 ribs, but the instructor took swmbo and i off it and put us on there big diesel work boat, 'cause he said the size was more like what we were used too.
Anyway was very interesting doing MOB and Search and Rescue stuff, Searching for a 2" piece of balsa wood in the middle of the Clyde was very interesting, but no problems..
On the first day took all the boats over too Largs marina to practise, berthing, turning in a confined space(3 point turn) and turning in owns length, There was a few worried faces from some of the owners of big yachts when we turned up/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif.
On the final afternoon we did some navigation work which i really did enjoy, never having done any before. We had to plot our way round the Island to different markers, which brought us straight back to base. Very enjoyable, just a pity i dont need to do it on the Loch, I can see the move to the Clyde becoming ever more closer.... I think i'd like to do some sort of theory work next, before possibly doing the advanced course. But I'm not sure whats the best way to go.
All in all a great weekend and SWMBO thoroughly enjoyed herself.
Solitare, Yes knots were fine, quite easy when you know how, as long as we continue to use them. Thanks David.
Thanks for the advise everyone,
Cheers....
