After escaping from Plymouth and leaving Harry behind on Muckyfarter, hope to get down to Scilly some time over the summer. Made it down there 4 years ago, absolute paradise, can't wait to get back and hopefully this time do a bit of diving.

Even if we don't get that far, there's always Falmouth to hide away from HLB/forums/images/icons/smile.gif Plenty of backwaters to explore. And Polperro, Fowey and all the other great west country ports.

How about the rest of you, any special places you want to get to this year?

....and there was me, thinking you were an old grey beard, when in fact you were Jimmie wearing a bikini!

Got the hotspots in one, but would have to have a decent weather window to take my 21' there, but I would do it anyway. Oh, and West Coast of Scotland, which was covered in another thread

<font color=blue>I'm going to spend more time on the Thames this year, last year's 4 months away was too much. I missed too many events and even Henley Regatta almost didn't start when they saw I hadn't turned up. Mr Henry Regatta was heard to say "how can we have a Regatta without (here he lowerd his voice and whispered my name in awe) him here"

We are hoping to spend more time in your neck of the woods this year, especially as the wife loves Dartmouth (where the boat is moored at the moment). We are based in Southampton, and managed to get as far a Torquay last year. We got back in one day, and now we have a bigger boat we are hoping to do the journey more often (again in one day each way), and extend our range to Plymouth and beyond (though not in one day).
Weather permitting we may come across each other later in the year.

Be careful with that bottle it shouldn't be exposed to too much sunlight:))

Interested to see that you are 'curious'. Spoke to a chap at Pwllheli at the weekend who is swopping his Phantom 38 for a new 40+' Bennytoe and have seen a few others make the transition as well of late. Appears that tranquilty is the key factor.

However, just to balance it, spent New Years eve partying with a bunch of very nice s/p's who are staying put, wives not keen on leaning over.

I know alot more people buying boats from Europe these days as it is price beneficial.

Jeanneau are really making a go of it in the motorboat stakes with a new 34 46 & 54 coming out. If you look at the range from small dinghys to large motor boats they have a large and varied range.

If the money gods are kind to me this year I will get a 34 Open.

DON'T DO IT !!!!
I can tell you what it's like - it is either a) When the wind is strong and in a helpful direction - exhilarating but very tiresome if you have to work down below and takes a while to get anywhere.
OR b) When the wind is strong and in an unhelpful direction (Often) - it is uncomfortable and you can't go where you want unless you start a weedy little engine. Takes an even longer time to get anywhere.
OR c) When there isn't any wind (Very Often) - it is totally boring - you're better off lying on a beach somewhere. This time you can't proceed at all without aforementioned little engine. Still takes an age to get anywhere but at least you can work or sleep down below - there's nothing else to do anyway apart from playing I Spy.

THAT IS SAILING.

We are planning to go to Paris in June this year from our home port of Dartmouth. Hope to get a few tips later from the forum of interesting places to stop over.

The Jeanneau 34 Open is the new Motorboat which is a bigger version of my Leader 805 but with a hard top option.
