I notice my 'spare' 4108 has 4 'special' head bolts in front and to the rear of the rocker cover. The ones at the rear are shown in the pic.
I guess they could be used to fit a step over the rocker? It would be very useful on the engine in the boat as that is where everybody steps or sits and I worry that
'ham footed' crew members may deform the cover.
Is this a sensible idea? Is that what these bolts are for? I don't think the boat (in Spain) has these bolts, could I risk changing them one by one without head deformation issues.
I guess I could make up a step with some of that engine room walk way type steel? Any other suggestions?
I would need some 4" long fully threaded 7/16 UNF screws which I am currently trying to locate!

I have oftain steeped on the rocker of my 4 236 without any issue

so I would mot worry to much

I would consider using the bolts holding the rocker head on to fit a step.

I will have a look at the 4108 in my garage tomorrow

BMC engines used to have a lifting bracket attached to the rocker cover hold down bolts to lift the engine from my old BMC cars
