Outboard woes

It's nice to find an actual fault. Thanks for all your help.

Help ? I didn't solve it - you did !! Well done.

Don't be too concerned about the 'discussions' that occur ... its the realm of forums !

Honest comment from a Fuel blender ? As long as you use and store well .. E5 or E10 makes no real odds ... example .. my Progress 4 ex Soviet Speedboat with Mariner 20 on the back .. hasn't been run for at least 3 - 4 months. The fuel tank has sat in the transom space waiting for me to use the boat. I know I could go to it - connect to O/bd .. pump the fuel .. pull the cord and usually 5 - 6 pulls she coughs ... I close choke and pull a couple of times and she runs fine. That's E10.

You keep stating your impressive credentials in the field, but Thinwater seems to have done extensive research into this specific subject in that field and come to a different conclusion.

Can you detail the professional research you’ve done into the specific issue being discussed here and explain why your conclusion entirely contradicts thinwater’s? Anecdotal tales of you old outboard aren’t quite the same calibre.

'lustyd' ..... you keep on and its getting tiresome.

Just for you -

SGS - well known Multinational Quality and Quantity Inspection Organisation. I covered all Products that were subject to Inspection - Petroleum and Dry Cargo in Saudi Arabia.
After SGS - was recruited to oversee Crude and Fuels Exports via Baltic States by Petrak Consultants Ltd.
Due to a conflict created by another in the Company - I left PCL and became Regional Manager for ITS caleb Brett - primary function to design and install Petroleum based Laboratorys and create operational Inspection offices in Baltic.
Left ITS and freelanced ... then recruited by Inspectorate to do same - create operational Offices and Laboratory's in Baltic
Once projects completed - I decided to strike out as my own Company - Baltic Inspection, based out of Latvia and Estonia. This included setting up laboratory ownership conducting analysis of Petroleums and Chemicals - concentrating on the areas that traditional Inspection Co labs rarely covered.

A second company was created with its prime function to perform Additive services to compliment the extensive Fuel blending we were conducting in BI. Our blending being Gasoline and Diesel for multiple markets incl USA, Carribean, EU / UK and Africa.
The Blending operations - covered agreeing and verifying the component products to create each shipment, laboratory analysis of each and the blend ratios to create the desired blend. These blends were made for Major Oil Companys and Traders - going into storage for distribution out .. storage as example on the River Thames at West Thurrock - maybe you seen the tanks from the bridge over the Thames ? Storage in Le Havre .... Hamburg ... just to mention a few of the many.

My "professional research" is not research - but the actual daily testing of 100,000's of tonnes of Gasoline and Diesel shipped out from Baltics. Our average shipment size being 60,000 MT each ship ... on a regular basis of a ship every 4 - 5 days. Each Gasoline shipment treated with Octane Booster and Oxidation Stability / Gums additives provided by OWT of the Netherlands.

As politics increasingly interfered with product supplies - the operations in Baltic were suspended and I moved operations to UAE and alternative suppliers - where major traders were situated and required such services. I became a Shareholder of company CTS involved in providing the Additive operations.

I left CTS and passed on my shares - to create another of my own companies and moved back to Baltics purely as residence - but operations now are worldwide. We oversee not only Gasoline / Diesel quality / quantity - but also advise on blending for specific markets. We advise traders / terminals / floating storage and general transporation on maintaining quality specs. Laboratory works we sub-contract out due to the extent geographically we cover.

So me ol'fruit .... I am not talking from a laymans or comfy armchair - but from from the actual 'horses mouth' .... not from some committee or group that discusses and then moves on ... but from actually conducting the blends and testing for many years before - during and after 'green issues' and continues today ... This work constitutes about 35 - 40% of our overall work - the remaining being overseeing ships / cargos / loading / discharging of all types of cargo carried at sea.

Toodle Pip !

So you have not researched the topic, as Thinwater did? Could have just said that instead of copying an irrelevant but impressive CV.

If I was to reply to this with the deserved comment - I would be banned ...

Why would I 'research' a topic that is definitely not needed ?? Do you think in all the lab work and operations - as well as discussions within ASTM committees etc - that others research was ignored or not known about ....

Thinwater will tell you himself that many like myself were UNNAMED despite our contributions and information freely given.

Irrelevant - you are joking of course.

Good riddance .... go annoy someone else.

Weird. You’re directly stating his research is wrong while simultaneously claiming credit.
You have a strange approach to authority and seem to be under the impression that time served counts for knowledge. I’ve dealt with people like that throughout my career, and usually replaced them with software.

Boy your understanding of the English language is very strange ...

1. I have not said his work is wrong - I said YOUR statement was in ERROR
2. I have never before nor will I in future claim anothers work as mine or to take credit. Anyone who has ever worked with me .. for me ... even competitors would tell you that.

You really are full of it ...

On the RYA red diesel debate, I was always a bit of a lefty, believing that if your MoBo uses 30 gallons an hour there's no way on earth you should have subsidised fuel! PAY THE F**KING TAX! Didn't go down well. Now I'm a petrol guzzler I'm having to pay extra for E5. Oh the hypocrisy!
I've always had a theory that, engine efficiencies aside, diesel must be greener than high octane petrol because it's nearer to crude (less processing). Is that possibly true?
Finally, can you advise on a good additive that's easily available (Amazon?) Thanks. p.s. I found the fault.

Oh my. Is'nt this a wonderful niggly thread. Really lightens the evening up to read this sort of stuff. I like the fisherman, but nobody else seems to have commented on him.
Maybe it is thread drift, but I have to add my tuppence worth of niggle in response to Ash 2020's belief that red diesel in UK was subsidised. My memory of the distant past leads me to believe that it was not, in spite of the story promoted by some in order to justify an increase in indirect taxation.
Instead, I believe fuel for road vehicles used to carry a financial surcharge, intended to offset the cost of repairing roads. I think that may have been called “road fuel excise duty” way back in the days when garages had fuel pumps labelled “derv”.
At some time, maybe in the seventies or eighties, a former government decided to simplify the taxation system, and changed the excise duty surcharge into a higher rate of VAT on road vehicle fuel compared to other fuels.
I am open to correction on this if anyone has proof to the contrary, but I believe road fuel carried a financial surcharge, rather than red diesel being subsidised. So now we all pay road tax on off-road fuel.

Im not even sure you know what you’re saying. Half the time you just cut and paste your CV instead of reading the posts.

Go away .. pester someone else.

Judging by your and some others on many threads - YOU certainly fail to read posts and you also have a liking to 'bait' people. I find that funny - considering the number of times I post - 'quoting OP's questions or info' wherre so many - like you - miss the point of OP posts ....
This thread is a good example .... go back to where I quoted OP's engine stalling when put into gear ... I never saw you relate to that in any form whatsoever.

The world is full of all sorts and you certainly are one !!

I apologise to OP - for the unnecessary baiting that Lustyd so intent on ...

We’ve not been discussing OPs issue for a while but actually I did address it with a suitable solution.

You claimed I was entirely wrong with absolutely no basis other than your overinflated self image.

Thinwater entirely agreed with what I said and cited hard research specifically into that subject.

You continued unabated with ego driven denial of science.

I asked for your research, since you denied his was accurate, you then claimed you had not, and in fact you’d contributed.

At this point I have no idea what you think you’re achieving, but you’re not looking great here. The research has been done, e10 can attract moisture and cause corrosion in carbs. Unless tou have something more useful than your CV to add to that discussion then you really ought to stop.

Oh .. keep going please .... fan your ego .. if it makes you feel good.

May I suggest you enrol into Evening Classes to improve your obvious lack of English Language comprehension ? Or is it just baiting the hook again ??

So you’re saying none of that happened? Seems even you don’t know what you’re saying, which is unsurprising as you’ve not contributed much

Wonder how long he can keep this up .... talk about blinkered !!

It always amazes me how some can really believe that 2+2=5 .... and they'll hammer it again and again .....

I'm expecting the inevitable Moderators intervention soon .... lets just hope that when they do - it is evenly proportioned action ...
