Over the weekend I purchased a secondhand Evinrude 15, no user manual, so I need to know from from owners the common problems and can I fit a charging coil to this type of engine. Your kind help please.

I have seen one of these engines fitted with a "Lighting Coil" for generating electricity to power the nav lights on the vessel. The lighting coil cannot provide electricity for charging batteries because the electricity it makes is not stable enough. it is ok for lightbulbs but not for much else. There mey be an alternator you can fit to it as per some of the newer electric start outboards, but the question is, to where? as i remember these engines are pretty crowded under the cover, and finding somewhere to mount it and something suitable to drive it from may be difficulty
