and the plan is to go to the CIs...

hmmm, the weather is not looking too good at the moment but its set to get better.

No then, when leaving from Gosport is it best to leave at high or low water? Also, should we aim to get to the CIs at high or low water?

want to make the best use of the tides but not sure what to leave on.

We're off to Guernsey tomorrow..........for a weeks hols - not sure where after that, just tried looking on the metcheck.com site and the server is too busy - everyone's trying to look at the weather !

We'll be out of the Hamble, I think it'll be an early ish start to get over the cill at St. PP. ( 10.43 am is HT, so we have 2 hours, ish after that to sneak overthe cill)

With the wind W or SW F4 I think I'll be going west of the Casquets and miss the Alderney Race.

If you fancy hooking up let me know............

Hi Si,

Are you sure about this???

Trust me you won't relax on holiday if your worrying about if the weather will pick up for a return trip.

If you do go for it then good luck and have a safe trip, look forward to seeing the pic's when your back!

We're off to Aldernay tommorrow in a 6m rib for the weekend. We'll kkeep a look out for anyone else going across.
Lots of different reports on the weather though. I use metcheck, accuweather, bbc to name a few. Anyone any other websites they use?

Depends on the wind direction. In a small boat you don't want wind against tide cross channel, and you want to be passing Casquets/Alderney at slack water. I wouldn't worry so much about the gate in St PP, you can always stay on the holding pontoon till the gate opens.

We were planning a mid morning departure tomorrow from Cowes to St Vaast, met office forecast says SW 5 to 7 so not sure we'll be going.

Will check the shipping forecast tomorrow morning.

Maybe hang on in Solent for a day or two and see what the weather does, would like to be in SPP for a couple of days mid week onwards.
