Nuts or what!!!!!!!!

Awesome. Possibly a bit nuts.... but realistically.... you're in a jet of water, and so long as your jet of water comes out the other end, you should come out as well. By choosing the line he did he was unlikely to end up recirculating under the crag... so the odds were in his favour.

Having had a mis-spent youth paddling on mountain streams I can see the appeal... but I've always wondered what skills were involved in the sort of big drops I didn't do: I can't see normal kayaking skills making a huge difference - perhaps there's a knack to landing nose-down (essential)... but I can only vouch for the skills on comparatively tiny drops!

Have to wonder how far you have to be dropping to make a kayak-based "base jump" (with a parachute) feasible... though the turbulent airflow around a major flow of water might mean such an enterprise would have to be reserved for small volume falls.
