The feminists have driven such words as manageress, actress etc out of the vocabulary so yacht mistress would not be tolerated

I particularly dislike the use of "fisher" for "fisherman" - The Guardian uses it and it just sounds wrong.

There may not have been promotion in the rank sense but there were definitely career enhancing and career limiting options in one’s actions and behaviour…

You don’t think that’s more than a trifle impolite? I suspect Viago said much the same to someone in a Plymouth pub once, and has been sore about the results ever since.

Mine is Coastal because most of my qualifying miles was on a boat too small to count. As I only did it to confirm I wasn't a complete idiot I don't mind if people disregard it as not a "proper yachtmaster". Probably should have done it before the long ocean passages that turned out not to count anyway due to lack of LWL.
