NOW I\'m getting

REALLY REALLY P****D OFF!!!!... Had not everything that has happened to the boat since i bought it, not been true, i would laugh, but that is not the case, it is, and has been, a true and factual, with no embellishments, account of my ownership of the boat since purchase.
My insurance company has now decided to appoint their OWN independant assessor to inspect the damage to the leg(having already supplied 2 quotes for replacement , and an engineers report @£105.00)What a F******G waste of time, and money that is going to be!!!! So how much more money do they want to squander???? Already this saga is over 6wks old, and i am still no nearer a resolution,!!!! PLEASE TELL ME THIS IS NORMAL PROCEDURE,or is this going to be another F*****G Gonfishing saga AAARRRRGGGHHH
Really, now I Have had enough,
I for one will be glad to see the New Year

hmm, good rant. Nice use of expletives, although I'll deduct a point for not using coloured fonts for highlighting them. So overall rant mark.........8/10

Ok back to the serious stuff. The insurance company. Did they instuct you to get the engineers report. Did they nominate a certain engineer to carry out the inspection. If they did and the didn't then I'd be on their case pronto.

Still think you should have got yourself a secondhand drive and fitted it. Then argued the toss with them. Because when alls said and done, yer gonna end up paying for it in the long run! Chin up, it'll be backin the water soon.

Re: NOW I\'m getting

Oh, it's quite normal Insurance co procedure. I once had a car set fire on a motorway. Could'nt have been more public than that. Filled all the forms in, and again, and again. Six months later a guy from the insurance called round and asked who had been driving it. So I told him to send a cheque within the week, or I would sue them. I got the cheque.

nother time. A bloke crashed a truck of mine through a wall. Truck got mended at great cost. Then the insurance said they wernt paying because of who had been driving. Some time later I was chating to the guy. He said Thats funny. Same firm insure my car!! So Poor unfortunate buggers had to pay out again....../forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Well if it was me, I'd be on the phone first thing in the mornng making lots of noise, Not just any noise but the right sort of noise. As for Insurance companies being "caring". Bollox, they're businesses out to maximise profits for minium outlay. Check the small print in the policy, half of them ain't worth the paper they are written on. We had this with our house insurance a few years ago.

They do this on purpose, to get you pissed off, then you will either drop the claim, or settle for anything, it's a known, praticed, usual insurance tactic, they are trained to do this! Jump all over their collective arses and threaten to sue, that normally tightens their wigs a little!

Hmm...Insurance Co\'s.....We\'ll see....

At present I am sitting on a ship in Denmark. On Thursday, we were sailing back to port from a job offshore. Phone rings at 05:00, it's the wife, nearly in tears. The new hot water tank I had fitted 5 months ago had suddenly sprung a huge leak and flooded out the dining room below. The daughters bedroom carpet ruined, the floor boards sprung, the cupboard the tank was in ruined, the ceiling below knackered, digital camera on a shelf below the ceiling destroyed, the new laminate floor I had laid 6 months previously destroyed, the dining table beginning to swell. The Baktiar Persian rug ruined, the floor has now been ripped up, the skirting torn off, the walls may need stripping & re-rendered/plastered. There is now 3 large dehumidifiers in the house going full tilt and they say it may be like this until after Xmas.
AaaaaaRGH indeed.
So far insurance co. seem to have it covered, but we'll see. Wait till I get home and start throwing a few Glasgow Fu*%s into the tank manufacturers as well.

Sorry to hear about this! Water can be a right bas....d in the wrong places and inside a house is one of them. I feel for you. I think I would have the manufacturers, nuts hanging over my door, just to warn anybody else! How the hell are you going to replace the rug! Not easy these days. Things like this always happen when your offshore!

Re: Hmm...Insurance Co\'s.....We\'ll see....

The tank was fitted by a mate who has his own business and is a fully qualified Corgi plumber and heating engineer. The wife called him a 07:30, after talking to me, and he came straight round. What had happened was that the thermostat housing had suddenly ruptured inside the tank and all the water had poured out through the element sleeve, shorting that, and of course the water just kept coming as the tank kept trying to refill. The wife was woken at 05:30 by the cat of all things. I guess it was pissed off because it didn't fancy wading through 2 inches of water. My mate said that he has never seen this happen before & took element back to the local supplier and after talking to the manufacturer, I think they have agreed to it being faulty manufacture. We will have to see. Shit always happens when I am away every other month. Sod's law I guess, but no consolation to the wife at home.

Yeh! It's always the same, worse weather when I'm away, things wrecked onboard etc. etc. Cats do not like water, some, very few do, so it's obviously a very good water watch! Glad you have things under control. Insurance shouldn't be a problem in this case. I hope everything is OK in the long run.

Mate of mine had his Nissan Skyline stolen from outside his house.

Claimed on the car insurance and they insisted on sending a claim assessor round!!

Insurance chap turns up, says "What seems to be the problem?"

Mate says "See my driveway there?"

Insurace chap "Yes..."

Mate "WELL THERES NO F***ING SKYLINE ON IT!!"

Ho hum...

Re: Hmm...Insurance Co\'s.....We\'ll see....

Not pissed at the insurance co. yet. When SWMBO called me in Denmark, to say that they wouldn't deal with her because I was the policy holder, I called them and they sorted that out right away and then told me to forget about it, and they would call SWMBO and would take care of everything. Couldn't send an assessor until this Monday though. However, sent people round with de-humidifiers immediately and they pulled up the floor, got electrician and already have flooring people booked for a visit when I get home next week. Pain in the ass about the 4-5 weeks drying out period though.
