We ordered, last night, a battery mon with shunt for Stg34 (about 25% of the NASA Li unit) delivered to Sydney middle of next week, 12v 200 amp, water proof (option available for 350 amps at an increase in price). $2.5 credit if late delivery. Looks like our old Xantrex unit. Comes with a 1m shielded cable. Measures volts, amp in and out, battery state (as a pictorial and percentage) etc and is Lithium compatible. In addition to looking like our Xantrex unit (circular display), the apparent water proof characteristics, the low price - and it does what we need (battery state). 90 day returns, paid with PayPal. Our Xantrex unit lasted 25 years and still counting. It had (I don't know what its called) a sort of blister button, you pressed the blister and scrolled through options - at 25 years the blister developed a crack. It still worked as 'out of the box' but I suspect, based purely on gut - no data, it had a short future life span

I decided not to heed the advice of the Victron adherents - the financial difference is too great and whereas Victron might be excellent - this does not mean cheap and cheerful Chinese are not more than adequate.

I might forget - but query in, say, 2 months time and hopefully I'll have a positive comment. Something for the Victron adherents to put in their electronic diaries :)
