New Project

Googler, looking at your injectors and your ECU plug, you must have a KAD44P-B.

Have you considered fitting a voltage regulator (as fitted to the C series) to protect the ECU? There are some 3rd party ones that I think would work well.

Hobby…..I’m no professional…..but then there are pro’s like @volvopaul and then people professing to be pro’s!

If you're making money from it you're a pro. You're just not very good at it. Now these other peoples, lets start a witch hunt, because I'm sure I've spend many thousands because off duff advice learning the hard way and I'm reluctant to accept all the blame.

I did not know that Mr G works in the NHS...but when I found out...my immediate thought was..he is a cleaner..and a damn good one?

That would explain all his bad advice on my health issues. He's worse than my cardiologist whose vocabluary is limited to No, Nein and Verbotten!

Interestingly…..I have considered that. I’m all geared up nowto power the ECU etc… using the separate ve+ and ve- supply to the “edc” terminals as VP want. You have to run the alternator to those terminals too so in the event of battery disconnect whilst running, the ecu will still have power etc…

I looked at the wiring diagram for 44p-c and the regulator wasn’t just after the power coming in so I got scared and thought I’d leave well alone

I take it from whence it comes, just because you made your millions cleaning out for the NHS when colonic irrigation was all the rage, doesn't qualify you to berate me for my consumption. It's my heart that's at issue not my bowels.

No way any procedure could remove all the bullish*t from within you ????????

and if something goes wrong in the alternator providing 18V bang goes the ECU?

Planned obsolesence. KAD42 and 43's were lasting too long despite dire warnings from the fringe element who froth at the mouth as soon as EGT is mentioned.

if you do know how many Amps this ECU needs, I'd rather have a decent (as in 50quid pricerange) DC-DC converter to drive it.
Wondering what the experts think, or if there are evidence that the ECU is happy with power spikes or whatnot (imho it should but maybe after a number of years some of the components are tired/underperforming)

V.

I’d be up for putting a dc/dc in….just need expert guidance

ah, that will cost you :p
you have to find how much power does this thing consume before making any thoughts on adding one

2.5 mm2 cable so 27 amp max. It’s not only the ECU on the circuit. Compressor is to I think and has a 7.5amp fuse. A 30amp dc/dc should do it to be safe?
