New boat!

Excellent result, nice job (y)

Don’t envy you the fuel bills though. I know you said you don’t do many hours but my 75+ Hours this year so far would have well and truly dented my enthusiasm by now ???

Does it ride as well as you hoped?

better. Slight chop….wind against tide around Onchan Head so headed to the roughest spot. Went through at 35 knots. She just doesn’t lift on the waves. Found a few rollers so hit them at 40 knots….all very smooth.

30 knot tight turns very stable. It really is amazing. I’d be very comfortable heading out in some rough stuff

25 knots which was my usual cruise on other boats feels like tick over! The engines are so quiet….it’s weird ?

So deadrise does work (y)

Suggest good oilies, could be slightly damp?

mirage plus was on the list. No idea what size or pitch I have. I’ll have a look at some point but I’m not concerned.

target Rev was 6100 on that website interestingly at 33ft and 4.1 ton. I already know I’m 5.5 ton on the crane. Main fuel tank gauge isn’t working so will replace that. Maybe I’m carting round 800 litres of free petrol ?….maybe not

Hallelujah, 1 down .
Sure does .One convert in 10 yrs on here .
His is 24.5 , mines 23 with 17 tonnes + to split the waves .

Bow flair or the “ Corolina “ flair is a tricky one .
Too fine and in a following sea she plunges , and pitches too much .You need a bit of bow volume on top of the deeper v at the sharp end to counter stuffing it .
Depends on your speed relative to the waves pushing from behind .

But as Mr G infers a “ flair “with sharper chines ( tendencies with deeper V s ) does deflect spray away , NOT over the helm position.
The S/Skr Porto 35 was a devil for soaking the cockpit occupants in a blowy head seas , the ballooned ( for space vol ) fwd sections just send water over and in the cockpit .

He might not need that screen as much as he thinks , thats what iam saying especially if you can , and he can speed up .
Ok the engines might get a spray but so what ?

What a machine! Absolute weapon.

performance.

max revs 5900 and 43 knots.

got a picture at 40 knots….fuel burn a touch scary ??

the sweet spot seems to be 4000 rpm…27 knots ish for fuel ( less than I though….just ??) but to be honest….it feels happy at any speed!

engines ran sweet as a nut. Few small niggles to sort but very very impressed. The pickup is unreal! ??

that’s pretty much it for this thread. Thanks so much for joining me on the journey and for all the comments of support. I’m off to burn more petrol ??
Fantastic, well done.
A great project with a brilliant outcome. ??

Mine has a bit of flare but I also have a nice dry wheel house when things get squiffy (y)

Gen 1 Verados have a WOT range of 5800 to 6400 so if you go down by 2" on whatever pitch you currently have that should increase your current WOT by around 400 rpm so 6300 rpm

I have an Enertia 13" prop which replaced a 17" Rev 4 prop. The Enertia gives me the same grip in turns without the top speed penalty of a 4 blade prop. Problem is they cost around £700 each and you may have to buy a few sizes before you get it right. Anyone interested in a 15" prop???

cheers for that info.

to be honest….I wouldn’t look at props until I know everything else is right. This was my first run out. I have a feeling the cooling system needs a proper flush clean which would help the intercooler after the s/c. Although I’ve added fresh fuel and treatments….there’s still aged petrol in the tanks. I had a knackered coil too but this could have been dragged down by a aged spark plug so a few things to go through before re propping. Playing with props is a black and expensive art ?

Now it’s time to put it back on the trailer and find another project.
