Can anybody give me a steer on an Internet based Navtex website or app ?

I like Navtex but dont want to fit a receiver and antenna on an already cluttered boat..

There used to be one but I dont think its around anymore..

A few more from the bookmarks >

Though away from the coast it's not that much use - coastal can be handy for dredging/active firing ranges/survey vessels etc. Well offshore I'd be looking at wfax from a cheap reciever like a degen 1103 for all the synoptics rather than use up all those expensive sat minutes.

Thanks guys.

I was thinking of something a little more International.

Is it for weather or nav warnings?
For high seas nav warning, you can get the links for individual Navareas here:
https://www.iho.int/mtg_docs/com_wg/CPRNW/CPRNW_Misc/RNW_on_the_web.htm
For Navarea 2 use https://www.shom.fr/navarea/NavareaIIenVigueur.txt

For weather bulletins, query at saildocs with Met2 Met3... whataver Metarea you need.
You can also get other "unofficial" bulletins via email through saildocs: for example for Biscay/Metarea2 the official coordinator is France so with "send met2" you will receive Meteo France bulletin, but you may query the MetOffice for areas Trafalgar/Fitzroy, Aemet the Spanish service for their forecasts as far as the Canaries, INPE Portuguese Met for Central Eastern atlantic areas, etc.. These will be the same bulletins you can receive with a Navtex station on the boat.

Thanks. Very useful. The Portuguese links are very timely.

Yes Im aware of the limited range on MF and therefore use (one of the reasons I didnt want to fit the hardware).

@chrisedwards We have made a small mobile app which will give you International Navarea Warnings and some Coastal Navtex warnings. It required an internet connection to download each area, but if you don't have internet then it will show you the warnings from the last time it managed to download.

For iOS:
iOS NautoShark - Navarea Warnings (Navtex) App
Android:
Android NautoShark - Navarea Warnings (Navtex) App

We often get asked to feedback asking to allow copy & paste or print. We will get to this functionality when we can!

Just downloaded the app. Is there a way to just download the area in which one is in rather than the whole lot?

I love old threads. Just a year and a half, and already that link is alreay giving "Page not found". It's over twenty years since the rest of the World discovered permanent links, but the news hasn't got through to the Met Office. I very rarely use their site; hard to find what you want, when you do it's hidden behind layers of javascript, and there's no point bookmarking the page because they'll ony move it again.

Euan: NautoShark looks useful, thanks! Have downloaded & will play shortly

Not just the met office, it's rife for gmdss links. Frank had a rant a while ago about this- to little avail it seems.

It downloads the list of all areas, then downloads each area's warnings when you select the area,

When you next view the area, it tries to get the data from the internet and if it fails (no internet) then it shows the data from the last time you downloaded it.

The data in the app is all collected from the Navarea Coordinator's own websites. We are always looking to add additional data into the app. Currently working on adding Danish Local Warnings.
