I have removed the primary fuel filter from my Nanni 200HP and it is dark brown. There is some debris in the filter housing. I removed the bottom bolt to drain any water and nothing came out. I had pumped out the fuel from the top end down to the metal screen and this contained some debris but not a huge amount and it seemed to be all diesel. I guess the bottom end is blocked as there must be something left in the bowl? I intend to remove the complete filter and clean it out and risk having problems bleeding the system. As I have had some problems with over heating and lack of revs this filter may be some of the problem causing fuel starvation at higher revs.
I then looked at the engine fuel filter which is hard to get to and I can see the cable off the bottom is not attached to anything as the connector is just lying there so I guess this is the water in fuel warning or temperature probe?? Where does it connect to as I cant see much from above and it is only very short. ?
Is it easy to get this filter off as I need to change this too while I am about it. Once done it should be much easier next time but this is my first inboard engine so I am looking for help.
Thanks

Hi,
I had a Nanni T4.155 which is a lower horsepower version of your engine. You are correct, the on engine filter does have a screw in sensor for water in fuel warning at the bottom and it does/should connect into the engine wiring loom.
Regarding your primary filter, I guess it is a Racor Turbine 500 filter (sometimes badged "Volvo" but perhaps post a photo to help identify it. I have attached a maintenance leaflet if it is.
I used to change both filters on an annual basis on my Beneteau Antares 7.
A word of note, if your primary filter is a Racor, be sure to use only genuine Racor replacement filters, there is a lot of chinese "tat" about.

Regards

Paul
