Without reading the whole thread in detail (and quoting individual post numbers) it appears criticisms fall under three headings
1) You've got no chance luv
2) you can't launch that here &
3) she's only doing it for the money and what's in it for her
So in order:
1) You might be right - but fresh set of eyes, bit of youthful enthusiasm (remember that?) and it might work and if it doesn't enough time to get it right next time - crack on! Share experience but don't pee on other people's dreams (a bit of balance maybe?).
2) I get this one - you can't have an expensive bit of kit crumbling away into a lock, but the paperwork generated has a value to the land owners. Surely a cost share could be negotiated? We once paid for legal opinion on behalf of clients, that opinion has a value - with agreement every time it is used we pay a fee to the originator of the opinion and another small fee to the lawyer to ensure their PI covers the advice. Every one wins.
3) The modern way - social media, youtube views, revenue generation, sponsorship and why not? Really it is just one person taking back some of the revenues from advertising sales and directing it towards her project rather than the magazine owners' or sponsors of big corporate events/races. Its one of the things the Internet is supposed to be doing - rather than just sending all the money to Google!
4) Pay the money and get launched.....

There is no problem. There are cranes which will lift Elizmor in and there are ground surveyors who will check that it's safe for the crane to lift Elizmor in. All Ellie has to do is pay them. I don't think she's in it for the money - she wants a fun place to live and good luck to her with that.
Won't happen. The ground for the 170 ton transformer lift is within reach of Elizmor if a big capacity crane were used. Even a worst case scenario would allow a lift.

For sure, anything can be 'doable' if the budget is infinite.I think it very unlikely that a surveyor would simply say no. As you say, a particular site for the crane might be specified, or the ground might need reinforced with some (expensive) piles, but one way or another it will be doable. From the look of the recent photograph, at least tow of Ellie's near neighbours will want it to be doable to - unless they are also ashore for the foreseeable future.
Anyone know how much was being asked for Elizmor and how she was being sold? I'd have expected a broker to make sure the launch problem was fully considered before purchase.
I'm sure I'm not alone in being surprised at the scale of the costs, it's few years since I've paid for a lift, but if you'd asked me to guess, I'd have guessed under a grand. In fact significantly less than that.
It's about £500 at Moody's and they antifoul where the chocks were FFS.
A less posh yard oop north ought to be charging what exactly?
I believe Ellie already disclosed the seller told her before she finalised the purchase, the cost of launch would be in the £5k ballpark so clearly it's not a straightforward launch and it would have been prudent to have obtained an up to date quotation before completing the purchase. Now I may have misread the thread and possibly am passing an unfair opinion whilst sitting up a gum tree. It's about £500 at Moody's and they antifoul where the chocks were FFS.

Cut the size of that deckhouse and she's as pretty ,if not more so. She is also a converted seiner, and as such will (probably) be more heavily built than a ring netter.Maybe not as pretty. But it's afloat http://vehicles.vivastreet.co.uk/bo...mber-mfv-converted-live-a-board-boat/38398365
