well, seeing its a Saturday night and all you old codgers have nothing better to do than run down someones dream , I am not going to swear on this post , because I know there are a lot of people reading it , but get a grip and think positive , at least for a fellow boater .

and if there is a launch party , can I come . :encouragement:

Blimey O' Reilly! One turns one's back on this thread for a day and a bit and there are another five pages to read. It's midnight (here) and I've still got 24 hours of Centaur malarkey to catch up on. I'll not sleep easy tonight...

Well that's 3 of you will stop posting on this thread. Some posters do nothing but moan about people posting on the thread.
What you seem to have lost track of (or never grasped) is that the thread carries on as long as someone wants to post on it. There is no moratorium on posting, unless the mods lock it. That is how forums work.
By all means don't read it, but stop posting on the thread if you don't want people to post on it. And stop agreeing with people who say stop posting by posting your agreement. I mean that is nonsensical.

Besides, Drift a Thread has broken all the records already, just relax wait for the update, and meanwhile join the IN CROWD on "Drift a Thread" in the Lounge.
No experience nesssssesssscary, but a working knowledge of Biblical ship building, Sanskrit, Ancient Persian, and the life and times of James Joyce will help you fit right in:encouragement:

Sorry. I posted on Drift a Thread early on once and then realised it was a waste of time. It cannot be a drift of subject if the intention is to drift subject. The only way for that to work would be to stay on the same subject all the time. That isn't the nature of the forum.
This thread is beyond greatness as it drifts, but also hovers.

The problem I see with all the "launch from the quay with a backward shove" options is that she will end up with her rudder and stern stuck in the mud and her prow still on the quay.
It'll be a cracking YouTube vid.

Brilliant - you've solved it. Stick a skirt around Elizmor, couple of big fans to blow some air in, a good shove and splash!

PS Would anyone like to sponsor a new exhaust for my VW Gold?

Open Your Wallet and Read the following two words loudly and clearly.."Help Yourself.." while inverting your wallet.

There's an interesting BBC news article on the Borders Railway project at http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-edinburgh-east-fife-25982048 which says

A 12,000 tonne crane will be used to hoist the bridge's four beams into place, with each beam weighing the equivalent of about 55 cars.

Now if Ellie could get hold of that little beauty, she could have it lift Preston Marina away and leave Elizmor behind. Bingo!

What do to with the marina? Oh, stick it on a low-loader and send it somewhere else.

Yes, I know it's a typo. Just 1,200 tonnes according to the press release they cribbed it from.

I like it! I can think of a few other places they could pick up and take away, whilst they're at it...

Av wgt of European car = 1.2 tons (Wiki). 55 cars x 1.2 = 66 tons. 12000 ton crane to lift that!!!!!!

I'm beginning to get the impression that the enthusiasm of owning a new boat has now worn off and the Ellie is having to get to grips with the reality of it all. The absence of any updates makes me think that "digital marketing strategy" ain't much help when nearly 40 tons need to be shifted and I do wonder if it is just another dream gone sour. Time will tell but, for the moment at least, Ellie isn't telling.
