My Dearest Darling
While we may have been parted a few short hours, it seems an eternity since 11:30 this morning. Even though it was only our third meeting, I gain such a sense of overwhelming self-assurance when I am in your company that I could almost believe that I could sail the seven seas with out further tuition from the RYA. I just can’t wait until our next assignation but alas that detail remains in the hands of that Broker chappie that introduced us and who insists on playing gooseberry. You remember? The fellow in the blazer, chinos and bow tie.
Now, I know that you were deeply wounded at my departure, after this morning’s sea trial and in truth there was a tear in my eye as I turned to leave. What with you’re deck fittings and mouldings so lack-lustre and dull and as for the manner in which you were secured to the berth, well I could hardly watch while the lines were secured. As the Lord is my witness I promise that you will have more than two fenders this time next year. Honest.
What about that berth though eh! And the view? Cracking isn’t it? It took me an age to negotiate that one for you. I was very firm with “the bow tie” on that one. He’d forgotten he wasn’t the only marina in town, I told him straight “it’s either that one or I’m off to MDL, please your b***y self. It’s all the same to me”.
You did wonderfully well this morning my fruit cup, the port engine failed to get out of bed on time but after four months laid up I was happy to overlook its tardiness on this occasion. You soon took my breath away though, with your grace, your speed over the ground and the response from the helm was a delight. But the real show stopper was when the turbos kicked in and we came up on the plane …. my God. I swear we were moving along like sh.t off a shovel.
Well I must close my love, so until the next time we meet take care and remember that you will hear the sound of laughter and be a part of the fun once more I promise.
Yours for ever
Chris
