We firstly moved our boat to the SofF, then bought a place and are now (in 15ish) years planning on retiring to the SofF. Weather and boating are certainly very strong points on why we want to move there.
Do not move to the Isle of Wight, you'd hate it, property costs a fortune, moorings are expensive, traffic dreadful, weather awful, nowhere to go, no decent countryside, no lovely beaches, its truly awful. Stay well away.
Roy just needs a river berth

Word of advice.....
No.1. The Conwy version of Beaufort scale has no need for anything below F6, it has all therefore been deleted .
No 2. The only restuarant not closed before 7 pm is the Indian, which if your lucky might be open until 9.00PM...... ..

Kwackers I think Roy may be getting lonely, you should make yourself more at home on his boat more often. Bring your students. They can practise pontoon bashing alongside while you relax with a cuppa and pud.
There are plenty of shaft drive boats at Elkins and Rosditers but they harbour is restricted.I would say Christchurch is a lovely place but not so good for boating due to the shallow channel in especially in winter months. Several of my mates have smaller boats there and at times struggle getting out and in, can also be costly in prop repairs should you get it wrong
