Mooring boat at Gairloch/Loch Ewe

I believe there are moorings in Badachro, Gairloch. Might be worth contacting the Gairloch Boat Club as a starting point.

Highland Council have 3 heavy moorings in Loch Kerry/Loch Sheildaig at the SE corner of Gairloch which were put there for fishing boats to use in winter storms, in recent years they seem to be letting them as long term summer moorings but my info. on these is a couple of years out of date. Badachro has private moorings in great shelter but quite crowded there is more room in Loch Shieldaig which has a beach where I have seen rolling cradles being used to bring boats ashore. There is a country hotel there. I think there may be more chance of a mooring at Sheildaig (not to be confused with the Shieldaig in Loch Torridon) The harbourmaster at Flowerdale Pier is Len ? (can't remember his surname just now) very helpful guy, he controls the HC moorings. Flowerdale pier has two visitors berths but the rest is completely taken up by dolphin chasers. Handiest place for water and diesel which used to be exceptionally good value. If you can not reach the harbour master at Gairloch, think he may be part time in winter, Highland Councils harbour headquarters is in Loch Inver. Gairloch Boat Club may be hard to get hold of, the former harbourmaster, Jackson Elder, might be able to help with that if you can find him. Hehad a nice wee trailer sailer for sale.

Plenty of space in Loch Ewe but not many leisure moorings there, best shelter seems to be between the island and the NATO jetty with workboat moorings for aquaculture off the island. not sure about the wee loch to the SE.

There are Mooring Associations at Badachro and Loch Shieldaig. The Crown Estate Scotland's local guy is based at or near Badachro -
