i need to buy a mobile which i can use from country to country changing sims as i go. i'd like to buy a 2nd hand one from ebay preferably a nokia as i know how they work! does anyone have suggestions for which model would be suitable for Internet use if i so desired but not to expensive!

Its not a Nokia but I use an O2 XDA. I'm on my third one now and its an excellent internet mobile phone because it is so like a PC. You can also use it as a plotter, car nav, dictionary etc etc.

Thanks they look like they would do the job but i have a lap top which i can connect to so i dont need a stand alone type. would like to spend less than £100 2nd hand.

You would need a GPRS phone and cable to link it to confuser, I would have a butchers on E bay, got to get one for 110 or less.

To do exactly what you want then Nokia 6310i - not the 6310 - the 6310i.
Use the bluetooth facility; if no bluetooth on laptop then a bluetooth dongle is about a tenner

A thing you plug into a USB port on your computer, which allows your bluetooth phone to talk to the computer.

I have a Nokia 6310i, Nokia PC Suite 6 downloaded on my laptop and Bluetooth on the lap top but cannot get Nokia to recognise the phone as a modem....can anyone help please?

I had this set - up try using infra red as opposed to bluetooth - worked fine this way for me

I did not install the PC suite - I think that's about managing your phone from the PC? Try uninstalling it and see if that helps (you can always reinstall it later if no good).
