MEOS 12v TV

We replaced our previous Thompson TV with a 15in MEOS 12v/240v. Really pleased with it but haven't used the DVD yet. We have put ours in a locker above one of the saloon berths so we can shut the door on it and it's out of sight. The stand was rather flimsy (oval-shape plastic) so we made a fairly wide rigid brass one, bent at a right angle, and screwed it into the back of the TV where the other one fitted and then onto the base of the locker. It's now nice and secure! We get a really good picture but we do have a fancy aerial system at the top of the mast so can't say what it would be like otherwise, plus we were already wired up for 12v. We only use ours on 12v and have found it fairly easy to retune when we're on holiday and away from our home base. No complaints so far. There have been previous threads regarding TVs, and whether you actually need to buy one advertised as '12v', so it maybe worth a search.

It will rot your brain, make you lethargic and grumpy, I would recommend a good book. (or bad one).
(Only joking.) ( Sort of)

We bought one last year which we had to send back as the DVD was faulty. The replacement seems better more laptops style rather than flat panel. We have hooked it up with a Glomex omnidirectional ariel and can receive freeview tv. The unit will also record to a SD card or USB stick.

I bought a 12.5 inch MEOS about a year ago. TV is fine (provided you have a good ariel but that's of course a different issue), DVD is also fine, kids like the games CD included in the package, sound is simply OK but I wouldn't expect anything better. Only negative is the battery. It's suppose to be a portable TV with battery but battery is completely useless. It would probably work on battery for a few minutes. If I knew it, I would have bought a slightly bigger TV (probably 15-17 inch) that run on 12/240V only.
Besides this when using with 12V or 240V it's fine.
PS: I haven't installed any sort of "marine ariel" yet. I am just using one of these "home portable" ariels that need 240V to work (only play DVDs on anchor). A lot of wires of course but I don't want another hole on the mast at the moment.

We bought one last year and fitted it in the camper van. It has proved to be very satisfactory, used on DVD, DTV, analogue TV, satellite. Current draw on 12 volts seems fairly low. Only downside is that the screen does not have very wide angle viewing capabilities.
