Hi all

I have lost one of our ignition keys for our yacht. The engine is a Beta 20 and the ignition is as per the photo. So we are down to 1 key but I always prefer a spare or 2.

I have emailed Beta but no response yet. Does anyone know of a location in the Hampshire area who can cut these keys please.

Thanks

Kev

If you know the code on the key you can usually buy them on ebay or similar cheaply. I'm assuming from your question that your local key cutting place doesn't have a suitable blank - you can buy them online too (its probably a Kubota key if you can't find a BetaMarine branded one) and most key cutters will happily cut if you provide the blank.

I lost mine last week, ( had previously broke one by standing on the silly keyring) started engine with a nail scissors...found the original in the cutlery drawer when I was putting away my new key..

I think they are standard Kubota keys, probably any key cutter can make a copy.. I'll probably make a new spare from a padlock key and a saw file..

When I couldn't get a key for a newly acquired Yanmar, the screwdriver blade of a Swiss army knife proved satisfactory!

A picture of the key would be more helpful than a picture of the slot!
There was a thread on this recently, turned out that keys are not individually cut and readily available on eBay.
Putting a name to the type is the start point.

The locksmith in Middle Road Park Gate had the blank for my Beneteau cabin lock that I had not been able to get elsewhere. He also knew what it was for straight away. Might be worth a try there.

I bought a boat with no keys for its volvo ignition. Was something like £280 or £380 for a new barrel and keys. Bought a chinese clone with 3 keys on ebay for £20.
