Been a couple of times now so know what to expect. Also hoping to bump into a few familiar faces. Always like seeing whats out there which might not make it to Southampton / the UK.

Was on the boat this weekend so its fresh in my mind.

Hopefully the weather is ok for anyone making the trip in their Cessna….. :)

I’m going Sunday and Monday, as are a number of other well known forumites. My first time at Dusseldorf so it’ll be a major learning experience I expect. I’ve been instructed by my lovely wife not to buy another boat, although I am considering whether asking for forgiveness instead of permission might be a workable strategy.… 😳

My wife and I fly out on Monday and will have a couple days at the show. Last time we went was 2020 and we came back with a few things including Covid. Better luck this time I hope.

We’re there Sunday & Monday assuming all the doors and windows remain in place on the plane. Those extra leg room emergency aisle seats should be fine shouldn’t they……

If its your first visit the sheer vastness of the thing takes a bit of getting used to. It’s like London, you go to the places that interest you but there will be some areas you never venture into.

As for the permission / forgiveness argument we sold a nearly new Porsche the other day which gave me an interesting insight into the dilemma :)

see you there.

Spent yesterday and today there. Great show. Spent a fair bit of time in the chandlery and equipment halls. Then did all the mobo and rib halls. Spent the afternoon in the big boat hall. Some very impressive boats.
Looked around the Galleon 440 and the new 435GTS. The GTS has 3 x 600hp outboards. Bonkers. I think Galleon has reached peak hull windows, they are huge. IMG_2024-01-21-180640.jpeg

Wife's back gave out at about 4pm so we are home now.
Looking around the small motorboats in 7m to 9m size, we now appreciate what we have much more! There were a few that were not bad, and one that had the same vibe as our boat but had a V hull and a 200hp Suzuki outboard, the other was an Antares 7 with a 150hp Suzuki and at a very good price for what it was, when I went to the Beneteau stand to ask about it there was not much interest in helping "Oh just surf the internet here's the QR code all is on there" At least the other boat had more accommodation even though it was slightly more expensive.
Loved the Grand Banks 60, beautiful boat, would have that :D

That's a little disappointing. A bit of 'old fashioned' communication works wonders in sales.

Wandering around and speaking to brokers when we were boat shopping last year gave me the impression a majority have attitude that reminded me of Porsche and Audi dealerships.

We had come down to the two boats we liked, they were a little different from each other, the Beneteau Antares 7 and the Boosbau-Schubert Variant 707 with the 707 being closer to the layout in our own boat which we find practical.
The '707HT' with 150hp Suzuki O/B and double bunk under the cockpit floor was €88k inc. taxes and the Antares 7 with 200 Suzuki was €80.5k inc taxes
Wife came onboard the 606 smaller version but her back had started acting up and couldn't manage the steps up into the 707, and she never made it up on the Antares either. Of the two the 707 was more like what we were looking for

Some were quite accommodating and gave us the full tour, by the end of the show my wife commented that nothing really came close to the layout of our boat and how much she really appreciates how ours is laid out, just that we would like something newer and with better handling characteristics.
Bayliner was the only dealer that scanned my ticket, but most of what they had there were bow riders and that is not what we were looking for. We did see other boats and meant to go back but the back problem got the better of her so left early, today the back is quite incapacitating her, we had planned on going to get the rest of the cloth for the re-upholstering of the cabin but that is now on hold.
