LYC - was bought by the same people who own OM Watts etc -
The lease had expired on the Artillery lane site - but the new terms were not considered cost effective as the mail order side had been relocated to whereever the parent companies mail order operation was run from, and hence they were only using 3 of the floors.
Then the parent company went bankrupt.
Must be a business opportunity especially if you set up on the edge of the city near St. Katherines - I'd do it myself but I'm risk adverse
London is now a bit of a wasteland as far as chandlers are concerned. No LYC, no Kelvin Hughes, no Capt OM Watts. The nearest one to the centre is called, I think, Ocean Leisure and its on the embankment beside Hungerford Bridge but its more of a diving centre rather than an all-out chandlers.
