Lewmar 30 ST

Help! How do I get the self tailing bit off to get into the winch? It won't budge if I try to turn it. Is there a clip or something I am missing?

Only owned the boat for 5 years so shows how many times the winches have been serviced /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Just noticed a post on scuttlebutt and downloaded lewmars service manual which said unscrew top cap, lift and remove arm so I think the 30ST has been upgraded since 1973 as I don't have a top cap!

Some have an allen key in the centre of the hole....

I was not suggesting that you might need to know that, I intended to make the point to the original poster who, for all I know, may not have thought of it. As it is in the Lewmar instructions I suppose they also think it a point worth mentioning.
