Chris Wallace Logged over 4000 miles
DOB: 11/05/1973

I have been interested in boats from a very early age, I drove my first boat at the age of 14 and I started my first job at the age of 16 part time in a chandlery and watersports shop for 3 years. I have owned my own boat for the last 4 years and our current boat is a Birchwood TS37 Supersport (40 foot flybridge) which we have owned for over a year. My Fiancé Natalie and myself have lived together on the Birchwood since we bought her (and 2 and half years together in onshore). I have carried out all the maintenance myself including a rebuild of one of the engines. I was a Manager & Designer of a very busy printers based in Guildford Surrey where I was in charge of the staff and finances and responsible for the smooth running of the day to day tasks. I feel that this and my many years in the watersports and boating industry will help make me a very capable and professional member of the crew.

Practical Skills
I have practical experience in maintaining diesel and petrol engines, GRP repair, deck equipment, pumps and heads. In the early 90’s I spent 2 years in the Canary Islands were I taught windsurfing and drove tourists on tours around the island. When we purchased our current boat it had been standing for 6 years so we have spent many hours putting it into working order. I am also a huge fan of the classic car the Mini Cooper and I have restored one and built another from boxes. The first mini I restored was featured in MiniWorld magazine and won many concours events, which I put down to the fact that I am such a perfectionist and love to keep things as they should be.

My passion for boating has been with me from a very early age. When I first met Chris I spent most of my spare time with my horse but the boating soon took over. I have always loved the challenge and adventure that comes with boating and I have a lot of common sense which I feel is very important for most tasks onboard. I often take the helm on our trips all over the south coast and also while Chris and his friend’s wakeboard. This has really helped with my experience on the water and I now skipper much larger boats such as a Sunseeker Manhattan. Being there while Chris runs through the routine maintenance on our current boat including the engine rebuild has really helped with my mechanical knowledge, seeing first hand what the various items are for and what they do. My training in Family and Community Care and all my work assisting the elderly and disabled has made me a very useful member of any crew.

I then worked with a 22 year old man with Cerepal Palsay where I organized his days, cooked his meals for him and when he entertained. Moving himself and his equipment around the boat had to be carried out very carefully. I have also got experience with children as I studied a city and guilds in family and community care.

We have always made a good team and enjoy spending time together on our boat or when we’re crewing on others. Our joint boating experience stands us in good stead for most jobs with both of us more than capable of finding our way around any boat.

Interests and Activities
It’s fairly obvious that we love our boats having lived aboard for the past year. We love the outdoor life and in particular water sports including: windsurfing and wakeboarding. We also enjoy mountain biking, horse riding, MG’s and classic Mini’s. We both have travelled extensively to destinations such as: Fuerteventura, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Margarita, Canada, USA, Caymen Islands, Maldives, Majorca, Greece and all over the U.K. We both enjoy entertaining and make a very good team in the kitchen.
