Next we will want boats with generators, kayakers in their groups, motor boats that pass to close, kids laughing on a beach, lobster pots, anyone who has a loose halyard in the wind?, ferries , all Banned, so those in sailboats may have some quite sailing ??

Or in other words, everything should be allowed, even if it means that nobody can take a child to a beach to enjoy a quiet afternoon and swim in safety.

Personally we all have to respect everyone's activities and accept we live in a crowded island and noise is inevitable .
Once we accept that, life is so much less stressful.

Personally I couldnt be happier to see people out on the water enjoying themselves but have consideration for other users of course.

We use to call them kill joys. They are the brigade that are opposed to BBQs on the beach and children playing cricket.

Fortunately largely speaking we all have the right to enjoy or open spaces, all that is asked is for them to behave with consideration and safety which does not mean they should be banned.

Rubbish. We do live on a crowded island and some noise is inevitable - but. Uncontrolled, screaming kids with their equally uncontrolled (usually nowadays Grandparents), music played at mega decibels, motorbikes revved to the max smoking the tyres. Facetime, again usually Grandparents, sitting on a train or park bench shouting into their phone. The problem is that nowadays many people regard their personal activities as an absolute “right” and refuse to accept that consideration, discretion, privacy is the norm and preferable. It works both ways. I took a pontoon mooring in a French marina this year and was later surrounded by 12 yachts from a certain south coast island club with a very blanch ensign?. They completely took over the pontoon with a “drinks party”to the extent that they complained when we tried to get past to get to the facilities. Live and let live is grand but let’s do it with consideration.

Kids on the beach were loud thousands of years ago as well their grandpa shouting at them (now at the phone). Was that true just 1/4mile from the beach on the water? Nope, that has been a quiet zone for all kinds of marine/bird life.

Honestly you do realise that open spaces are for all and if they are noisy go somewere else this is why you have a choice.
Respect what! Your intolerance to noise , why can it not work the other way and respect peoples time outside.

As this is a boat forum I will give my wee story to , last year the clyde cruising club of around 20 + boats came up to oban pontoons all a good bunch , in all types of boat took over the whole pontoons and mingled with all the crews , well one boat opposite us decided to have a party and drinking and singing could be heard as the night continued it got louder
No problems to me my wife or 9 year old daughter, just went to bed listening to out of tune Jonny Cash,
Who cares they were having a good time , one night were they could meet up with friends and be happy
I even slept with the hatch open. Seriously people need to stop getting angry at trivial things like people having fun.

They have been around for some decades and also have rights but I think that they should be registered and insured, incidentally I still call them water-scooters.
