Jabsco sea water pump / Thornycroft 108

The sea water pump on my Thornycroft 108 is a jabsco pedestal type can anyone advise re the reassembly. The impeller would not come out without first removing the brass key (which was jammed and had to be drilled out) this does not seem right.

Vincent thanks I have contacted Cleghorn Waring and a service kit is ordered, they also confirmed that the pump had been assembled incorrectly - the key goes in first followed by the impeller!
