I has an android after many years of useful service from a Windows phone.
I just couldn't manage an android. I hardly seemed to be able to receive a call.
Got an iPhone and all is good.

Thanks everyone,
John if it was one thing I could live with that but it it is lots of small things that have me questioning myself.
Greemble, my question was very badly composed, what I want is to buy a new refurbed phone

Probably due for a new phone.
They're not meant to last more than a couple of updates
.
Not my experience. Both Mrs M and I have had iPhones for years. They usually get replaced due to damage rather than any software or lack of memory problems.

Apple sell guaranteed refurbished iPhones. Otherwise loads available but I’m wary of the provenance of many of them!

I’m a ‘Practical iPhone Owner’. Only ever bought two (I’m on my second!), then refurb them myself: Apple iPhone Repair

I’ve had the whole lot apart. No soldering required - just steady fingers!

Apparently the newest once cannot be repaired anymore, though. Chips or some such match all the components together! ?

So much for "right to repair" legislation...

I am a long term iphone user. Have tried Android but just couldn’t get on with it. One way to cut the cost of a new phone is to look for sellers who have stocks of a slightly older model ie, the one before the latest version. I did this through Argos for my last phone and saved several hundreds of pounds for an almost identical product.

It’s remarkable how ‘marmite like’ Apple is to Android users and vice versa. I’m sure both are excellent products in their own way.

Trying to score some points out of Apple pricing seems bizarre to me. It’s a free market and if it was style without substance the market would have spotted no clothes on the emperor a long time ago.

It’s certainly not looks as the latest smart phones all look remarkably similar. AFAICS

I have to use an Android occasionally and I find it extremely frustrating because as a long time Apple user the Android phone is not intuitive to me. I expect I’d get used to it if I had to but I don’t have to so I’ll carry on using my iPhone. I suspect exactly the same argument applies to devoted Android users when faced with an iPhone.

That's how I feel. I used a Windows phone and now use an iPhone. I tried two androids but sent them back (luckily one fell to bits after a week).
The 'system' is a lash-up with each manufacturer adding their own detail modifications, so appealing to Google for instructions to achieve a problem resolution is usually confusing and often futile.
