I am in process of deregisyering my plbs and epirb and one very nice Falmouth coastguard put me through to a lady who said it was now just a simple email and a couple of weeks wait and the same for people registering them - she laughed when I said it’s not like the old 6 month wait then and she said those days are gone - really nice phone call 📞

Ok happy to accept this is an improvement… but. Even two weeks is stupidly slow. This takes seconds to do on a database somewhere,
In reality it’s instant. The delay is just printing the stickers and sending them out. It’s a problem for coded commercial vessels, but not a big problem with sufficient planning. For private vessels not an issue at all since the sticker does nothing.

I remember it taking like months and the coastguard seemed to be in shambles back then but today I actually had a telephone conversation with people who were charming professional and efficient and I thought ‘ I could put my trust in these two’ it was refreshing when so many calls are very different.

The OP mentions de-registering in his post.
