A local builder Marino have come up with a new daycruiser, which they call an APB (yes, All Purpose Boat, first I have seen of these sports-activity-whatsit -acronyms in the boating world).

Marketing rhetorics aside, I quite like the looks of it:

They have a reputation for building solid, practical boats with reasonable, if not excellent finish and there are quite a few around locally. I haven't seen this one in the flesh yet, but I hope to in the next Helsinki show.

I don't know how it works for you but to me it has sort of rugged, yet stylish appeal.

Looking at the brochure on their site, it seems that they have a bigger one coming out as well, which sould be interesting to see.

EDIT: I only now had a look at the video. It's in Finnish but it shows how the class door slides under the cockpit sole. Looks nice but probably restricts (blocks) access to storage underneath.

Atlantis Verve 36

I'm afraid not for me although she is interesting!

the new kid on the block -- at least in sunnier climes is I suspect going to be the new The Atlantis Verve. It is genuinely stunning in real life and just seems to be so much for its money. It is much better in real life than these images -- I can not explain that. The deck space and features are those of a 50+-footer imho.

She's in Cannes for the Show at the moment ( the first & only hull currently /allegedly) and I've fallen in love (again). The Verve isnt a Seacube but stylish and amazingly practical with a great helm position. The best current Credit Card Weekender for less than €300,000 ? Options are 300-370 D6s if I remember correctly.

A couple of us think we've managed to book a seatrial for Monday morning or evening so pictures & more after that (hopefully).

This is of course in my official position as Chairman of the Fender Kickers Club ( CdA Branch)

yes the Atlantis 36 Verve is a nice concept I agree
altough this Finnish is a bit of a smaller size and different concept, I see the Marina a hybrid between a rib and a Targa...
but looks interisting just the same
if you want to look at big deck spaces don't forget to look at the Blue Game 47 and the new 60, I think they offer a very interesting concept too, and have such a good riding real all weather hull

I saw this Marino thing yesterday art SIBS. Frankly I thought it was ridiculous. It was the most over-engineered piece of nonsense I have seen in the boating world for ages. The mechanism to open the doors involved moving the seats in the cockpit and then deploying the most complicatede hydraulics to lift the cocpit sole, whereupon the doors cantilevered and slid themselves under the sole itself. I guess they haven't invented door hinges in Finland?

The designer has obviously got a new CAD software package and can't stop playing with it.

I believe to have seen hinges here too. Would be quite difficult to arrange the same result with a pair of hinges, though. Not that such arragement is neccessary needed in the first place. Lots of mechanics to fail.

I didn't realize that Marino is imported into UK.

that Verve does look stunning. Sort of same genre but quite different markets.

I agree - Verve 36 most interesting boat at Cannes so far

EME is right, I had a good look at this boat on Thursday at Cannes, very impressive and yes the brochure shots don't do it justice. Big boy side walks as well, no tippy toeing along the gangways, you could swing and anchor whilst walking down the sides. The last time I saw a side deck this wide was on a Sqaddie 58.

This is the way med day boating design is going. I will hopefully get some shots of it on the water on monday. Oh there was some trampy looking welsh bloke on it though so I didn't take any snaps on Thursday :)
