Insurance?

Hi all,

It is that time again! "Insurance Renewal"....

Who do you all insure with as I have no idea whether I am getting a good deal.

Currently with Mardon (Axa Marine) @ £446.80 yr plus £350 excess.

Insured £40000 for my Mariah 268, 27.5 ft 250Hp sports boat. Wet moored all yr.

Any recommendations welcomed.

Best price I've got, to cover £63000 was from Bishop Skinner - less than you are paying, 2nd best was Saga - yes, Saga. You may not qualify for the latter/forums/images/icons/smile.gif

I bought a new maxum 2900scr for £68,000 in 2001 and Mardon were dearer by £100 for same cover than a quote which I accepted from the brokers - Alker Bros. Their no is : 01942 241741. You may find them competitive. Cheers. Roy

I sent a lot of e-mails to a lot of companies for quotes. Not quite the best price (by about a tenner) but based on recommendations on this forum I went with GJW. Around £350 for £45,000.

There are earlier posts on here which praise the efficiency of GJW and the fact that they are realistic about settling claims - that was a big factor with me.

Had a claim with GJW in 02 £1700 didn,t even send a bod to check it out ,sent them a sensible estimate from a good local boatyard. Job done in less than a month. Probably had pity on me. You see this muscle bank came from nowhere and the charts where obviously faulty. Seriously wouldn,t go elswhere for a few quid off Good luck.
