In praise of Swedish sailors

Sweden has always been one of the leading yachting nations. Based on its beautiful waters, west and east. KSSS (Royal Swedish Yacht Club) was founded in 1830, before most (not all) clubs in Great Britain. Its sailors have been in all the major regattas, with success. An intense programme of events takes place in its own waters each year.
It has major boatbuilding, sailmaking and equipment (Volvo engines, Silva compasses, windex (lots: look in your chandler)) firms.
So easy on the patronizing remarks about the Swedes. And they have refused to adopt the Euro: they know what's what!

They were also responsible for one of the great newspaper headlines of all time.

But in Sweden...

...we have extremly boring yachting forums!
And you are never a prophet in your own country, so my parole is:
Eat Swedish but sail English!

And let's not forget that long before yachting came up the Swedes, or better , the Vikings, did some remarcable voyages ( never mind the burn , rape & pillage) including N.America and as far south as the Med.
Respect for swedish sailing!
