Has anybody got any experience of importing a diesel heater from the USA? The prices quoted semm to be a lot cheaper than over here. How much import duty do you have to pay? I would loke a Taylors heater but very pricey. The Dickinson heaters from Canada look very good. Any thoughts?

To be honest I am tempted myself, I am looking at a cooker and it also heats up the water.

I order a lot of small bits and pieces from the us and never did i pay any tax but this might be diffrent ?

VAT and duty

I bought some bits from a US chandler who did not have experience of shipping to the UK. He sent via Fedex and he charged me the freight. 4 weeks later came an apologetic letter saying that Fedex had paid VAT and duty on the shipment on his/my behalf and could I send him another $100. So its important to check who's paying Vat and duty before you buy.
