I have been recommended the ASAP impellor puller, the <65mm size, for my Beta 43. It is £65!
Is there a Chinese version much cheaper which can still do the job safely? Or do I have to bite the bullet?

There must be loads of chinese bearing pullers on e-bay that could be modified for the job.

You might have been better posting this on the PBO thread. Practical boat owners use lots of cheaper options. Myself, I use either two screwdrivers or a pair of longnosed pliers. £65 ???

If the impeller is jammed, then a few drops of warm glycerine often releases the rubber from the shaft.

I use two small screwdrivers ... think they were short ones that I bought from Wilko or similar cheap, I put some tape round the shaft of the screwdrivers and some heat shrink over that, saves metal to metal contact, when you leave the impeller out.

It also helps -a lot- if you smear the shaft and the impeller bore with copious grease before fitting it.
That reminds me when I was a science lab assistant and a student was having a problem searching through the reagents cupboard. When I asked what he was looking for he said "copious water" because that was what he was meant to rinse his apparatus with...

Not necessarily the best but I made this from an old toolmakers clamp with the addition of two knife edges made from filed screwheads. Once clamped between the vanes of the impeller it makes for a good handle to pull it out. Works for me and cost me nothing

A pair of plumbers/waterpump pliers work for me, although for smaller pumps you might need to grind some metal off the nose of the pliers for clearance.

I have one just like yours prior to modification. I made it in metalwork class 62 years ago and still use it occasionally.
