trick question at each fold the size diminishes by the width of the fold so each fold is not exactly half but you can get a close proximity up to about 8 folds before paper gets to thich to fold. now who bored!!!

7 to 9 times is what we managed when I did this in physics in school. Depends on the paper to a small extent. It helps if the folds aren't exactly parallel.
