Sail (Dragon) 1995-2000

We had a party once when the main crew of the Dragon's ages totalled 200. The helm had been sailing the same stretch of river for 65 years. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

" Other water activities "

Include any activities that involve being or getting wet,/forums/images/icons/smile.gif No change that involves being in the water i.e. diving./forums/images/icons/crazy.gif or on something that is meant /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif to be floating on the water, a boat of some description or board. /forums/images/icons/cool.gif
But not a fairline 40 that trys to do both!/forums/images/icons/frown.gif

As you know, I am but a babe at this boating lark - 10 years of my life all power/forums/images/icons/smile.gif Mind you I did do a 4 years stint as a Scout canoe instructor - but that was when God was a boy. I've sailed Lazers (badly) on Hartebesport Dam and driven jet boats on the Vaal river - got p****d and /forums/images/icons/wink.gif oh can't say that here on the banks to! Water skied in the in the Indian Ocean - perhaps that should be on - and swum with sharks in the Pacific. So what's that? Give or take 20 years? Mind you it would be interesting to look at the survey in terms of actual hours on the water "doing it"

I started sailing at the ripe old age of 6, and continued into my late teens, had a break till my mid 20's and have not stopped since.

Also did a year on commercial fishing boats.
Another year on a commercial fishing charter boat.
Several trips every year in small power boats, fishing and diving.
Was a ship loading supervisor for 4 years, Bulk carriers.
Have been repairing, refurbishing and modifying boats for 30 years.

Totals.
Sailing: 47 years
Power: 35 years
Other: 37 years

Grand total 119 and counting

Now looking for a 40 to 45 foot cat, would love to build her from the ground up but just don't have the time. By the way, I have my own business, Domestic and Industrial Waterproofing; based on fibreglass, so I don't need the practice in my spare time....

Family dinghy from 5 yrs old
Started on family trawlers aged about 9 yrs
angling boats and dinghy sailing whenever we could get out of school
working on trawlers as Sat/Sun job.
full time trawlers until 16 - 19 yrs
ran fishing diving charter for 2 years when not fishing.
lifeboat from 10 years cleaning boat and gear; then on crew from 18 to 25
sailing with father from 19 to 23/4 then a break
took on topcat in 2002
so about 27 years give or take, not really on my own until 10 years old though, so 23 years.

I can't stay away, I was born into it.
