The boat I'm buying has been out of the water for 6 months at least, is the anti foul still ok or would it need a fresh coat?
How long does anti foul last when a boat is out of the water?

I think that's a bit long... Depends on the brand but afaik around 12 weeks is about the limit

That seems to be the usual answer but why does time ashore with a dry hull reduce the effectiveness of the antifoul?

I will now rush out to re-antifoul my tender which was only in the water for 5 months! Still, the copper powder I added seems to work well..........no doubt it will continue to do an equally good job next month.

A fresh coat is a fairly minor issue; having a fouled hull is not going to be !

Definitely another coat will be needed. Three months is the limit before immersion

With Coppercoat its infinite. The orhers vary. But whilsts its out its daft not to slap another coat or 2 on.
