how do i get my mmsi number

just got my new dsc radio today what is the quikest way to get my number and how much does it cost ,
do i need a ships radio licence to get one does anyone have a link to where i get it

Visit the ofcom website, get yourself registered and you can then get a free VHF licence and your MMSI number.

You must also have a VHF Short Range Certificate to use a DSC radio. You can do the course at any RYA centre. Having done the course you will also be able to answer your own question.
