After a bit of research i reckon Webasto heating is best? Any advice/suggestions would be good. I need it for a 32' 3 cabin boat.

Had an ebersplutter installed as old one onboard died, new one died after one month - all sorts of problems with the dealer who started to charge callouts after the dam thing locked out, time after time, they replaced it eventually but i didn't ever have faith in it.

Bought and installed a webasto - been bomb proof 'till it coked up - took it out in 15 mins stripped it in another 15 mins and cleaned out the gunge in the holes in the end - re-installed it and again it's bomb proof, can't make it go wrong.

Our Webasto is quite an old model - but support from Keto has been excellent.
They did some repair work on it and have been very helpful subsequently in helping with teething trouble.

Can't comment on the new Webasto - but if you go this route I would consider Keto as a source to buy from.

Our boat is a similar size to yours and we have a Wallas unit fitted, available from www.kuranda.co.uk

Not one of the most well known of brands, but designed specifically for boats as I understand it. Our boat's previous owner installed it to replace an Ebersplutter, which kept coking up. I remember he explained his reasoning, which to this day I can't fault.

Diesel heaters need to work hard to avoid coking up. If you size the heater generously it will be cycling constantly and will never get hot enough to burn off all the coke.

Our Wallas heater is also a self contained unit, easily disconnected should it need servicing, so you can remove the whole thing and work on it where there is space; worth considering in whatever installation you choose.

The other things to consider are electricity consumption and noise. If I tell you ours is about the only boat in the marina that you can't hear from outside the boat when the heating is on, I'm not exaggerating. Ebersplutters whine loudly from 30ft away outside the boat, so I hate to think how noisy they must be on board! Can't comment on Webastos but our Wallas is very quiet indeed. Once warmed up (they all use a big current to work the glow plug when starting) the Wallas uses less than 2 amps, very low indeed.

Have we sorted out the size yet? My D2 is fine for saloon of 8'x 9' x6.5' but struggles if I try to warm the wheelhouse (yes-a softy!!) as well solution is to decide where I want the heat and switch acordingly. A bigger heater is indicated but some forumites caution that too big a heater run on half speed will coke up.
There seems to be a body of opinion which suggests that Ebers are noisier than Webasto. I have a D2 on my bench and an older Webasto somewher I will try to test them.
Certainly there is a lot of exhaust noise from the Ebers which is drastically reduced with a silencer.
The report on the wallas is interesting, anyone else used them?
I am considering fitting a second small unit just for the 'stateroom' ( aftercabin!!) as it is easier with my layout to fit another exhaust than another mile of ducting (yes, rather a lot on a 32' foot boat!!) So in some situations two units may not be all that silly.

I paid 1350 notes for a webasto 2000 fitted with thermoduct and three outlets. It's fine. If you went for the 3500 the boat can be heatedup to oven like temperatures. I am quite happy to be warm rather than hot.

My Webasto is 4 years old. On turning it on there is dense WHITE SMOKE & after a minute it locks out. There is flashing ...probably 4 short flashes after each long flash but so fast that it is hard to tell. Do you think this sounds like the problem you had before decoking ? Is decoking just a matter of taking it to bits and a stiff brush ?
