Both jobs sound like they should have been priorities from new! How old is the boat?

The proportions and layout of the compartment sound ideal. (y)
Yes, probably! I've owned her for less than a year - 1983 build.

There was a dangerous gas heater that I removed and replaced with calorifier and diesel heater. Didn't quite have time to finish the job before re-launch.

All the Cobras, the 700, 750 and 850 have a proper heads. No contortion needed.
All small Westerleys do too, even the Nomad at 22ft.
My parents Yarmouth 23 has a proper heads too. Some contortion needed, but perfectly usable by my 85yr old dad.

You’re not mad, it’s a sensible consideration for long term cruising on a small boat. I do 4-8 week blocks away on my Cobra 850 so not having a proper heads would be less than optimal.

Big might be better in a marina or at anchor, but there's an argument for a compact one on passage. Less chance of getting dethroned
Very much so. Nickelback have a point if you’re a rock star and the place is shorebound, but you don’t want to be playing baseball in your heads at sea. Being able to brace can be vital!
