I'm thinking of buying a new Hanse 371 as it seems to be good value for money and would very much like to hear opinions about this model from someone who owns one or has been sailing with this boat. It gets very positive comments in a couple of test I have read but it would also be useful to hear from other owners.
Thanks.

Hi,

I took delivery of a new Hanse 371 a month ago. Superb boat. My old boat was a Hanse 301 which I was very impressed with. I wanted something larger but didn't want to lose the performance of the 301. By all accounts the 371 sails the best out of the range and I can certainly confirm that she has a slippery hull. Very satisfying to sail. I can't vouch for the self tacker yet as I've only rigged a 150% genoa so far. Very quick, and very comfortable, and solid. The build quality is very good.

Before I ordered my 371 I sailed with Philip Watson of Watson Sails in Ireland who has recently taken his 371 across the Atlantic and back. He did the ARC in 15.5 days and averaged 7.5 knots all the way back to Dublin from the Azores. It was interesting to hear his experiences.

You will find other owners at http://www.myhanse.com/

There should also be a review in Practical Boat Owner very soon - next month or so. Keep an eye out.

Marcus
