Anyone here have any personal experience with these? Considering a GS45 but will have to come over to the Med to find one since there are none here in the states.

Lovely boats. Often referred to as a Spaghetti Swan as style is very similar. Look stunning in dark blue with teak decks. By all accounts sail well too, although I have no direct experience. quite a few in the UK as there is an active dealer here.

Good luck with your hunting

Hiya, sailed a 43, very nice if you are into modern boats.. total lack of handholds and bracing below like most modern boats.

Goes well, very well. Great marina boat.. wouldnt like to do an offshore passage in one. Simply due to the WIDE saloon and the danger of breaking your neck.

Happy owner of a 1995 GS 45. Different boat to what they build these days. My impression is the new ones are racier but still well built. Certainly our boat feels more solid then a lot of the production boats being made today.

They are beautiful boats, but their reputation as a 'cheap Swan' unfortunately has a base. The earlier GS of the 80's and 90's vintage have a bad reputation for quality. This was fixed by them in the later 90's and the 2000 versions are both of a genuine individual beautiful design and very good quality.

In summary, try to get a very cheap 80-90's year vintage yacht for great value or a later GS for great design.

I know this is a very old thread but I really have to say something here.

LadyJessie is not right about the earlier GS from 80's and 90's. In fact if anything LadyJessie is exactly wrong as it turned out that the GS's from late 90's and early 2000's had a few issues. The 'earlier GS's were extremely well designed and built boats.

I own a 1993 Frers GS 52 which is extremely strong and well built. The interior and finishing is immaculate and still retains its condition. One of its unique features is the hand polished Siam teak interior woodwork. This is not a feature you find on a 'cheap' boat.

I have sailed this boat half way around the world through some very remote areas. It has seen bad weather and harsh tropical and cold conditions and still looks and performs excellently.

When looking to buy a boat I saw many GS's from the early 90's era. They were all still in good structural condition and the high quality finishing had kept really well.

I am not sure where LadyJessie got their info, but it is very wrong.
