well I have had my boat for nearly 4 months now and done a few jobs on the toilets etc  well today we woke up and it was flatter than a flat thing so we went out at 10am to a lovely sunny Weymouth bay that was just so calm it was fantastic

we stayed out for 2 hrs bimling about in the bay having a blast here and there I was so pleased with the boat but it does need a lift as it was slow due to a very dirty bum, we came back in on the 12 noon bridge and saw andy on the fuel berth so brimmed both tanks ready for the season and left £500 lighter in the pocket (why do we moan about putting fuel in our cars lol)

then it was time to berth her for the first time, when I pulled round into my part of the marina I could see the sluice gates were wide open and it was gushing in almost over the top of the pontoon and racing like a fast flowing river but I had to try and get in some how, I tried 3 times and failed as the current just pushed me round quicker than I could get in, on the 4th attempt we got in thanks to our neighbours grabbing a rope each which really helped so after a few failed attempts we were in, few.

I then spent a couple of hrs washing her off and left her looking very shiny ready for next time, but I must admit I will think twice about going out if those gates are wide open like that again as it really was a bit hairy but no damage and I would rather take 4 goes and be unscathed apart from my pride :D

this winter boating is great on a day like today

Well done shawn , glad you enjoying I and all went well. She must be ready for a scrub now and the worm in Weymouth has been horrendous last year so I'd bet she is covered on the shafts and props.

good on yer, LB. It's very encouraging to hear of people overcoming major and minor irritations, then being really pleased that everything works.

Here's to many more nautical excursions.

cheers paul yes I think the worm is bad in Weymouth according to various people I have spoken to, some say its about 35% worse than last year mate ;)

Well done Shawn, it all sounds positive. Approaching pontoon for the first time under any conditions is exciting and can be stressful. When conditions are against you, as long as you do the job sensibly you will get respect, so it took four goes, it does not matter. So much better for you and your crew, not to mention your pocket, to get in safely without a collection of other peoples staunchions and gelcoat all over the place. It was a great day, I bet Weymouth Bay was gorgous.
