In ye olden days, when (a) I travelled a lot between Edinburgh and London by air and (b) I was an active glider pilot and (c) flying Boeings into buildings wasn't a thing, I used to get the jump seat on BM or BA flights most weeks. The crew were always very chatty when they could be, but made it very clear when they needed to concentrate. Trying to talk then would not have helped with return invitations.
I was flying in to Grand Rapids MI one rather crappy night. Heavy rain and gusty winds. You could listen to ATC on the IfE.

We wee I think close to final approach When ATC start trying to make chatty conversation about the weather. The pilots response was along the lines of we‘re a bit f’in busy to be giving weather report right now!

I assume you mean the video of the accident?
Was the skipper using a mobile phone, as you appear to assert in #140?

I’ve also seen the video and while it’s obvious that the boat drives straight into the bouy, unless it’s a different video to the one taken from the ferry, then I can’t see how you can make out that detail ? It was shot from too far.

Perhaps he has seen a different video ?

I'm guessing that Charles is Callum's father.

And no, this "phone photo" is nothing to do with the actual accident, other than it being a promotional photo for the rib hire company which was involved in the accident. This is not the same rib hire company that is run by Callum's father.

This post has nothing to do with Redbay Power Boating!!!
Having seen the video the skipper did not have his eye on the ball ???
All the best Callum.

As fellow rib operators - if that’s right - what does your father think about your efforts to sell another skipper down the Suwannee River in advance of a full police investigation and possibly serious charges to follow should the CPS so decide?

My thoughts as well bearing in mind that the first mention in this thread of the name of the company involved in the accident was made by cstewart37 in post #142.

Not to mention the need to pay damages for defamation that might be coming his son's way.

I heard about the sad loss of Emily but I am horrified to learn that so many of the passengers were also badly injured...and all for a so called "thrill".
Presumably the skipper will be charged with manslaughter sometime soon.

Is it a condition of carriage on those trips, that you be ready to warn the boat's helmsman of objects that may be in the boat's path?

I think it was said that the passengers had grown accustomed to passing marks very close, so didn't think to warn him of the oncoming North West Netley.

How would they have done that, over the engine noise and loud music that was reported to be playing?
