Connected a 2nd unit a merely by plugging in a ethernet cable to link both chartplotters enabling both units to display the same screen.

Yes, but it needs to be a crossover cable. Note there is no facility for the Ethernet plug locking catch, so cable tie the Ethernet cable to the other cables to stop them slipping out.

All done, all working, no one was more suprised than me when it worked.
Thanks Paul.
Skipper was off to Burnham over Easter and now can choose either to either catch hypothermia on the fly or hide down in saloon out of the sleet and snow driven by the Bank Holiday NE winds.
Spent rest of my morning changing a poo pipe...............
